Why Should I join the PTA?

We ask families to join the PTA because we believe a strong membership can get many wonderful things accomplished together.  Your membership supports many causes and efforts that directly impact our children, plus it gives you the opportunity to be more informed and allows your voice to be heard through your privilege to vote as a PTA member. Anyone can join for as little as $10 (updated price from a Special Virtual PTA meeting held on 05/01/2025 due to increase in National PTA dues).

Who can attend PTA meetings?

Anyone can attend PTA meetings.  We do ask that only members vote, but we would love to have you join us and hear what is happening!  You are also not required to attend – we are all very busy and we understand that not everyone is available to be at meetings! As a PTA member, you will gain access to meeting minutes that are shared via ParentSquare after each meeting, so you’ll still have the opportunity to stay informed and connected even if you’re not present at each of the 5 membership meetings.  

What am I committing to if I join the PTA?  

You are committing to supporting our organization, however you aren’t committing to volunteer hours or committees.  Being a member is the base level of support we ask of our families.  You will be included in informational messages, but there are no additional tasks or requirements.  Your membership is your support!  

What if I want to get involved with the PTA?

We have LOTS of different ways to be involved and they all make an impact.  

● Volunteer at an event.  These are one-time opportunities to donate your time.  Examples are Fall Festival, Book Fair, International Festival, Field Day, and more.  This is an excellent way to volunteer when you know your busy schedule is unpredictable! Volunteer opportunities will often be posted via ParentSquare so you can select a time that works best for your schedule.

● Join a committee. Library, yearbook, auction, bobby.  These are consistent opportunities throughout the year with added flexibility of working around your schedule.  

● Join the PTA Board as a Committee Chair/Vice Chair.  These are the people you may notice wearing green volunteer T-shirts and lanyards. We have 28 different committees that volunteer in a variety of ways.  For example, Bobcat Store, Social Media, Faculty and Staff Appreciation, Fall Festival, Campus Beautification, Finance and many more.  This is a great way to get involved if you might have more consistent time to volunteer or if you are really interested in a certain area or focus.  We hold 5 board meetings throughout the year that we ask you to attend.  And there are a variety of ways to participate. ● Join the executive team and serve as an officer.  You probably can’t miss most of us because we are around a lot!  And we love it!  :)  We help support each of those 28 committees and manage our PTA business year round.  This is a great way to get very involved, if this is your passion.  While it is consistent volunteer work, it’s incredibly rewarding and fun! These positions are elected in the spring.
