Each year, our PTA has two major fundraisers. One in the fall, and one in the spring.
The money our kids earn funds our PTA operating budget for the year. Our budget pays for things such as:
The Accelerated Reader Program
The Arts in Education Performances
Teacher Classroom Reimbursements
The Reflections Art Contests
Fifth Grade Parties and Ceremonies
Ice Cream Social
New Parent Playdates
and much, much more!
Our spring fundraiser is a super fun, adults only auction. Past themes have been Disco Nights, The Roaring 20s, Crystal Nights, and Boots and Bling. We bid on live auction and silent auction items. We also sell “socials,” which are fun parties geared at both children and adults. Parents love this fundraiser because they get to have a night on the town and cut loose with all of their friends, and teachers and staff from the school.
Our auction funds pay for special projects around the school. These are chosen by a group of PTA members and the School Administration based on wants and needs. Funding requests are scored by a number of factors, most importantly, the overall benefit to our children.
Past projects have included:
The Writers in the Schools Program
Funding for Outdoor Learning Program (school gardens)
Outdoor Play Structures
Audio System for the multipurpose room
Shade Canopies for the courtyards
In addition to the auction and the Funrun, we also rely on Community Partners. These are businesses or families that donate money to help sponsor events, such as the triathlon and Fall Festival. The Community Partners get their names on banners and t-shirts and other benefits depending on their level of sponsorship.
Bottom line: we put the “Fun” in fundraising, because it’s for the kids!
